I am an Underwriting Assistant for the Life, Accident and Health team at Beazley. I have spent the last year working for Beazley as a Controls Operations Analyst which was my first role after graduating with an Economics degree from Durham University.Over the course of the year, I have been working with Beazley’s internal systems and producing frequent excel reports which monitored underwriter’s limits of authority. In cases where underwriters were writing risks outside of their authority, it was my role to ensure that appropriate sign off had been obtained from more senior underwriters, with adequate authority, prior to the risk binding. This role served as an excellent introduction to the insurance industry and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working within Controls and Beazley as a whole. I have supplemented my work at Beazley by starting my CII qualifications and I have just achieved the Certificate in London Market Insurance.
