I collaborate with high school students in the process of writing their UC PIQ essay responses as well as their Common App personal statements and supplemental essays. Sometimes, this means critiquing work that has already been drafted, other times, this means ideating themes, outlines, and structures from scratch. I meet students wherever they are in their essay-writing process and guide them through draft iterations until they have a polished response we feel comfortable submitting.

Upward Path Institute exists to provide full-service college application guidance to first-generation high school students whose parents are unfamiliar with the ins and out of the college application process in the United States.Working with students in grades 9-11, I strive to help students cultivate requisite essay-writing skills that will enable them to craft compelling personal statements and supplemental essays. I encourage all of the students with whom I work to bring their unique cultural backgrounds to the page in order to enhance their prospects of gaining entry to desired colleges and universities. My day-to-day involves ideating 30-minute and hour-long lesson plans that focus on strengthening specific essay writing skills, conducting essay-critique sessions that allow for detailed review of a student's written work, and interfacing with parents, counselors, and school administrators to provide updates on student progress.

-Design rigorous 8-week curriculum covering concepts such as pacing, narrative voice, and plot structure to promote thought and dialogue surrounding ‘Reader UX’ among writing students.-Facilitate weekly 2-hour classes that enable students to put various reader engagement techniques into practice in their own writing.-Analyze works of short fiction and nonfiction to highlight different approaches to reader engagement and promote discussion about their effectiveness.

-Facilitate asynchronous classes of up to 40 students ranging in age from elementary to high school.Promote integral writing practices, such as freewriting, revision, and drafting through timely, positive feedback on submitted student work.-Serve as a liaison between students and parents through effective communication designed to allay parent fears about a child’s reservations about writing.

With the dry wit of an under-appreciated British butler and the concise wording of a military dossier, most things I write cover big ideas in small spaces.I’ve been fortunate enough to work with clients ranging from burgeoning start-ups to major corporations in more industries than you can shake a stick at, and have picked up little trinkets of knowledge every step of the way.Nothing gets me as excited as helping someone get their ideas out on paper. Since then, I’ve followed all things ethical business/ sustainability-related incessantly—occasionally jotting down a few of my thoughts about the varied goings-on within the CSR community.
