During an internship at Cochin Shipyard, valuable insights were gained into the operations of a mid-sized maritime company and its various departments.Key highlights of the internship include:- Exposure to Heavy Machinery and Green Technology: Worked with state-of-the-art heavy machinery and learned about sustainable practices and technologies.- Supply Chain and Procurement: Gained a thorough understanding of procurement processes, including organisational structure, top-down workflow, and approval lifecycle within the supply chain. Learned how different departments coordinate to ensure efficient procurement and how approvals move through various levels of the organization.- Business Development and Contracting: Learned about business development and contracting processes, including bidding and negotiations.- Project Management and Planning: Focused on project management, emphasizing resource allocation and workforce capacity management.- Public Sector Operating Model: Understood how public sector companies operate, with a focus on transparency in bidding and procurement processes.- Quality Control: Learned about setting up internal quality control checks, constant audits, and ensuring quality and standards are met.This experience broadened my skills in maritime operations, sustainability, supply chain management, project planning, public sector operations, and quality control.
