There are currently only seven sports management undergraduate programs offered in California. I am lucky enough to have just graduated from Menlo College in Atherton, CA, which happens to be one of the seven. I plan on attending graduate school next fall in pursuit of receiving a MBA in sports management or sports business while continuing my baseball career. I aspire to one day work on the business side of professional sports, working primarily with athletes.Since graduating high school in 2019, I have worked in professional baseball operations, college athletics department and counseling, retail, and beverage catering. All of these opportunities have allowed me to develop personal and professional skills that have made me a better person and employee. Maintaining multiple jobs at once, attending college full-time, and playing collegiate baseball has helped me to build a strong work ethic and desire to succeed. Effectively managing all these aspects of my life has taught me how to be goal oriented, manage my time efficiently, and think critically in order to be successful. I am proud of how these skills have changed me as a person and have helped me to continue to reach the goals I set for myself.I have been privileged to receive multiple honors and awards throughout my undergraduate experience. During my time at Menlo College I maintained a cumulative 3.91 GPA, which made me a Summa Cum Laude graduate and placed me on the Dean’s List each semester. Following both of my baseball seasons at Menlo College, Daktronics recognized me as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete All-American. With Menlo moving from NAIA to NCAA Division II, the college started a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The school’s athletic director honored me by naming me the committee’s president. During my time at Fresno City College in Fresno, CA, I also held the same role. Following my second year at Fresno City, the school named me the Scholar Athlete of the Year because I had a combined 3.97 GPA and competed on the school’s baseball team.Last summer I completed an internship with the Fresno Grizzlies, Single-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Being able to work in professional baseball operations allowed me to see what goes on behind the scenes of professional sports, and has confirmed that this is the best career field for me. I am confident that I want to pursue a career in the business aspect of professional sports.Thank you for your time. I hope to connect with you soon, and begin building a relationship.
