HGV Mechanic/Technician Duties and Responsibilities Servicing, repairing and maintaining vehicles to high standards. Inspecting vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately. Using computer based diagnostic equipment and wiring diagrams to rectify electrical faults 12v/24 systems. Replace any broken or defective parts and resolve defects. Road testing vehicles to check repairs, maintaining equipment and making sure tools are in a good condition. Following checklists to ensure all procedures are completed. Completing all relevant documentation to the required standards. Carrying out full manual Gearbox/Drivetrain diagnosis & repairs including diesel engine rebuilds. Also, confident in basic hydraulic systems, working a 24/7 on call rota responding to road side breakdowns ensuring the service vehicle is stocked with all relevant parts for the job as well as operating and maintaining workshop forklift.

Worked to a shift rota, responding to breakdown calls and covering on call at weekends. Carried out planned and unplanned maintenance to a wide range of vehicles HGV/PSV/LGV to VOSA standards. Using diagnostic equipment to diagnose and rectify faults with vehicles. Carried out monthly inspections and repair any faults found such as - engine and drivetrain faults, air systems, breaking systems, steering and suspension, cooling and heating system, hydraulics, tyres, electrical work, fabrication/welding and bodywork preparation and painting when required. I also carried out planned servicing and MOT preparation work.
