I obtained my bachelors degree in Physics from Troy University in the spring of 2020, and finished my thesis-track masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in the summer of 2023. Undergraduate research experience includes modeling binary star systems and submitting a journal article to the Journal for American Association of Variable Star Observers (JAAVSO). Graduate thesis research is related to recycling blends of polypropylene and high-density polyethylene via twin screw extrusion for applications in 3D printing and beyond. Publications include the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, UAB libraries, and a third publication still in the works.I am currently a Technical Engineer at Shaw Industries. My team primarily leads new technology and product development for the fiber extrusion process at our facility. This includes project management, data analytics, and building data visualization pages for management and process engineers alike. Skills in this role require a familiarity with 3D modeling and printing (Fusion360), data management and manipulation (SQL, Python, Microsoft Suite), SCADA programs (Ignition), visualization (Ignition, PowerBI), statistical analytics (MiniTab), and the ability to be adaptable to any new program or product to keep Shaw at the forefront of innovation. Flexibility, critical thinking, root cause analysis, data driven decisions, and effectively communicating to an array of individuals at all levels (Operators, Engineers, Upper Management) are a must have to be successful in this role.Shaw has provided the opportunity for growth by providing classes in leadership, data, and science.
