I am leading a test-focused liquid rocketry group. We are currently preparing to statically re-fire our smaller thrust engine to educate new members on safety procedures and lab etiquette. We are also experimenting with both homemade and off-the-shelf gear pumps, hoping that we can use them to pressurize rocket engine feed systems. I have already led the development of a new liquid test stand, which will be used to evaluate pump performances and generate data. My group will also be continuing to learn about rocket engine thermals and we plan to experiment with different cooling techniques. In the future, I would also like to fire our club's first liquid rocket, with the goal of reaching high altitudes.

I contributed to the full lifecycle of two rocket engines and gained experience working on a rocket engine feed system/test stand. I also conducted structural and thermal analysis on a regeneratively cooled combustion chamber utilizing Ansys FEA. During this process, I had the opportunity to conduct tensile testing of project materials and used this data to create more accurate computer models.

I worked for a small air service company specializing in bear viewing tourism and I was responsible for a dock housing up to five water-based aircraft. I oversaw the daily operations of two turbine engine De-Haviland Otters and one radial engine Beaver. I had the opportunity to work alongside aircraft mechanics, getting valuable hands-on experience. During this time, I assisted in routine maintenance, including rudder pivot-shaft replacement, turbine engine disassembly, and hourly inspections. I also managed a fuel farm for aviation fuels, analyzing fuel samples, and ordering and receiving fuel shipments. When needed, I stepped into the role of assistant guide, where I flew with guests into the Alaskan wilderness to find coastal brown bears. During this time, I witnessed hundreds of bear encounters and educated tourists on safety and outdoor etiquette.
