My name is Ethan Cho, a current student at Duke University. I was born in Austin, Texas (Hook 'Em Horns!) and have lived in Charlotte, North Carolina until I moved to Seoul, South Korea. Through my academic, extracurricular, and most importantly personal experiences, I've developed avid interests in a variety of fields. Environmental science, computer science, astrophysics, and marine biology are just four of the many subjects I love.I've always enjoyed being an active member of my community both in and out of school. At school I hold leadership positions in several clubs and organizations, including our school newspaper/magazine The Spirit (definitely check that out!), Model United Nations, Student Council, World Wildlife Fund, and more. I want to exploreWith that, I'm also the director of the design department in the international youth environmental conservation organization Greener is Cleaner, and a member of the subsidiary GIC South Korea chapter. As a design director I manage Greener is Cleaner's amazing team of designers, organizing social media campaigns (@greeneriscleaner) and managing the publication of GIC's official magazine "SusTEENability" (another thing you should check out ;)). With Greener is Cleaner I've also attended environmental conservation events like the 9/23 Korea Climate Strike and the Korea-EU Youth Climate Action Festival.Nature is the biggest part of my life, which is why I'm so invested in environmental conservation. Whether it be biking through and exploring the wild, watching nature documentaries, or going on plogging trips with my friends, I want to do everything I can to appreciate and protect the natural environment. I especially love whales—you could say I am a whale myself :). That's why I've participated in experiences like the international environmental competition The Earth Prize or interned at the Geumwang Wastewater Treatment Plant. I want to learn more about the environment and how I as an individual (and as a leader) can help it.
