As a second-year student at McMaster University, I strive to become the best person I can be while learning at the DeGroote School of Business. In the past 3 years, I have worked at a Metro grocery store where I have improved my communication and time-management skills. This past summer, I worked both at Metro and in landscaping for the city of Burlington. Here, I showed dedication to both jobs by always showing up and ultimately working over 60 hours each week. Now that I am back at school, I have the time to improve myself more by joining clubs and getting to know the other students at DeGroote.Being at McMaster for over a year, I have gained new skills that I can use to aid me in the future. These skills include Digital Marketing, which began in my first-year marketing class where I learned about different market segments and how a product can succeed or fail depending on certain factors. I now use this skill to aid me in figuring out which products would attract my target market and selling these products online. Another skill I learned would be Business development, in one of my courses I essentially had to create a business and product line that went along with it. During this, I went against other classmates to see who could do the best and I placed among the top 10 percent of the class. Finally, one of my courses helped me learn about HR Consulting and the psychological factors that went along with it. This class had me the most interested as it made me look into how other people's minds worked and how they acted accordingly. Overall, McMaster has helped me build various skills that I now have the ability to work on.
