Staff Software EngineerAuditboard May 2021 - Jul 2024Cerritos, California, UsAuditboard gave me the opportunity to spearhead several critical technologies from conception to production. I architected and led the implementation of Auditboard AI, Auditboard's flagship application of AI to several domain-specific problems, acting as a force multiplier for Auditor efficiency. I built the AI team to 5, and brought the product to market in under a year. In Auditboard's multi-billion dollar acquisition, Auditboard AI was considered a significant material contributor. I also had the opportunity to innovate on the creation of a configuration-driven iPaas dataflow language, providing much needed customization of complex customer workflows and analytics. -

Mar 2016 - Apr 2021As a technical consulting company, Philosophie gave me the opportunity to work on a variety of innovative projects, using a kitchen sink of modern frontend and backend technologies, and even some advanced autonomous robotics thrown in. Among the projects I worked on were a face recognition system providing touchless onboarding of passengers for Royal Carribean, a financial modeling iPad app to support Capital Groups financial advisors, patented image processing functionality for David Kind Eyewear, and 0-1 development of an autonomous ag-tech robot for Future Acres, developing one of the first electric, fully-autonomous transport robots for the agriculture and farming industry (I mostly implemented the brains).

Chief Scientist / Co-FounderNami Media Jun 2001 - Jun 2014PPC Industry technology hubAcquired by LIN Media (NYSE: LIN)I co-founded Nami with the idea of correlating offline advertising to online results. We applied for patents on the concept and as far as I know, created the first product in the category known today as cross platform attribution. We were too early and could not scale the revenue, but generated enough to support lean development of several other products.Our second product was ILP (Intelligent Landing Pages), an early variation of an A/B webpage optimization service similar to Optimizely. Again, we were too early to market, and we did not have the resources to develop the market ourselves. Also, the client side technologies needed for making it super easy to use were not available at the time, leading to a disappointing user experience. An interesting detail though is that we had much more robust targeting technology than Optimizely (circa 2014).Our third product was The Product Depot, a feature rich Affiliate Platform which competed with Commission Junction and the like. This was actually a fairly successful product, and we generated decent revenue from it for several years. But there seemed to be a low ceiling on its potential growth, so we let it phase out.The next product is where we hit the sweet spot on market, timing and technology. We created a brokerage hub for the PPC syndication market, and grew to be the dominant player. We were able to grow the team to 45 including a dev team of 15, and at peak we processed more than 10B revenue optimized searches per day. In addition to the primary system, we also created an efficient bid engine to allow our clients to manage their own search listings, allowing us to become a more full service offering. It was these products that made us an attractive acquisition for Lin Media, a public media company looking to expand into internet and mobile.

The focus was on Brazil, which was a ripe market for this service. I was brought on to head up the client side product development team, and oversaw the design and implementation of the customer interface for managing dial-up connectivity from the desktop. _______________________________________________________________________________Previously, I was the CTO and Co-founder of an entertainment industry hosting company named WorldSite Networks, which had an exit via Internal Buyout. I was chief technologist and manager of the R&D, hosting and website design aspects of the company. I was also the Director of Macintosh Engineering at Xaos Tools, where I managed the Macintosh development group to a team of 6 during the release of three of its award-winning 2D and 3D consumer-facing graphics products.Prior to Xaos Tools, I was a software engineer at VPL Research, the first commercial Virtual Reality company. There I managed a team of 3 in the design and development of the next generation of VPL's software products, as well as the first virtual pre-sales walkthrough installation.Finally, right out of MIT, I was a co-founder in a successful software company based on technology created at the MIT Media Lab. I developed its two award-winning multi-media software products. This company was acquired by VPL.
