DI Colorist, Workflow Consultant, VFX QC supervisor. I am a self-motivated learner. Even before graduating from university, I worked as Editor and worked as a junior colorist in HFR. Working at HFR, I found great opportunities in the China Film industry. Then I moved to Beijing and joined three DI companies from 2009 until now. Throughout my career, I have worked as an editor, DI technical director, VFX Quality Control Supervisor, and mostly Colorist. Now I'm Chief Colorist and post-production supervisor at Image Forestt based in Beijing. I've been in this industry for over 10 years now. My company has worked with mainstream film production and OTT for mainly color grading. My main task is to build the general look and color grading with Director/DoP. One of my outstanding and unexpected roles is VFX Quality Control Supervisor for the director. Self-trained over 15 years with Big Screen gave me an accurate eye for the quality of VFX. I believe I can handle the whole imaging pipeline from LUT build, DIT, DI, and VFX. I also have technical testing support for Equipment Manufacturers in China branches like ARRI, RED, Filmlight, and DVS. To do this, I mainly use Baselight for color grading, Resolve for LUT build, and Clipster for Deliverables. Workflow consulting is a frequently requested service that I do with the support of various workflows. And I was asked to build LUT for on-set and build a post-production pipeline from scratch especially work with unique colorspace. I have also trained myself in new color gamut (ACES, Camera’s WCG), HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and HLG. I like the technical part of the content business, but I don’t think it’s the main of this field. So during DI, and VFX sessions, I more focus on communication with Creator. Powerful tools for content have rapidly changed over the past decades. I have tried to overcome the dynamics of the industry by diligently adapting to tech in china since 2009. Korea is a very fast adaptor for every part, especially in content. As I have been working between DI and VFX production in two different countries, my unique experience will help your company adapt well to this digital transformation. I can communicate in three different languages. Korean is my mother tongue, and Chinese and English are outstanding. 2 years serving the US army and 14 years living in Beijing. I’m Korean. I worked in china for 15 years from nothing to something. I don’t worry about new challenges even if I don’t know at all. The challenge is my mother, and Struggle is my father.
