I'm a Cybersecurity Engineer on an OT Security team at Honeywell looking forward to starting a Master's in AI at UT-Austin this Fall. I hope to someday work at the intersection of AI and Security: both AI Applications in Cybersecurity and the Security of AI. My skills include configuring VMs with VMware's vSphere client, Trellix ePO, WSUS, PowerShell, Python Programming, and more. At my internship, I've updated multiple outdated manuals describing security configurations and have taught many of the above skills to fellow colleagues in an attempt to diversify our team's skillset. Personally, I'm a diligent worker with a never-ending curiosity to learn more about cybersecurity and many other unrelated fields. I'm not satisfied with mindless button-pushing to get things done - I love understanding why things are the way they are. Therein lies the true joy and power of learning. I'm very comfortable working in teams and enjoy getting to know new people. I'll be the first person to acknowledge I don't know everything and that's why I've surrounded myself with a diverse group of counselors who have knowledge in a variety of fields. It is difficult to single-handedly create something amazing that benefits the world - it is when different-minded and skilled people unite in common purpose that great things are achieved. I've spent almost my whole life in Houston, Texas and am quite fond of the place. There's an immense diversity of restaurants for foodies like me, there's no income tax in Texas, and the moody weather never fails to keep things interesting, if not a bit unpleasantly wet (*cough *cough Harvey). I enjoy spending time with my awesome family (particularly my dear parents), having great conversations about philosophy and Christian morality, stroking my two hedonistic cats, and optimizing myself to become the best version of Ethan Schellingerhout possible.
