UConn FSAE Data Acquisition Sub-Team Lead: Summer 2022 - Present Member: Fall 2020 - Spring 2022 Ethan's team placed 10th overall at the 2022 international competition, 3rd in the endurance dynamic event, and 4th in the autocross dynamic event. Ethan is responsible for validating and improving car design and setup for international competitions as well as knowledge transfer to team members. Since becoming the lead, he grew the sub-team from 3 to 10 members. Through testing he organized in spring, he validated the new aerodynamic package using suspension potentiometers and accelerometers to collect downforce and drag data during coastdown testing. Conclusions from statistical analysis of this data resulted in design improvements for the 2022-2023 car (with second-generation aerodynamics) and data that was presented at the competition. As the team expert on configuring our data logger, running statistical analysis on clean data, and using strain gauges, Ethan has been focused heavily on knowledge transfer since being elected as Data Acquisition Lead. Additionally, Ethan acquired sponsorship from Smart Racing Products, which specializes in vehicle performance and sensors.
