I’m a lifelong creative coder, giddy collaborator on do-good initiatives, and a 3rd generation workplace democracy advocate. I’ve been working in technology for over 30 years, and for the past decade I’ve focused on the intersection of worker-ownership, democratic governance and technology. As lead of the product team at Obran Cooperative I get to collaborate with worker owners throughout Obran’s holdings to co-design solutions that make their working lives better, and find ways to offer the resources of our cooperative to even more folks, and explore new technologies. We’ve built internal tooling that uses AI to help all members access and understand the complex financial and governance data that’s critical to our model, a suite of tools that remove the burdensome admin tasks that eat up clinicians time and help them provide better care to patients, and an employment platform that brings big-company benefits to independent workers. Prior to Obran I was part of CoLab Cooperative, including our work on coop marketplace UpAndGo.coop, and have presented at a bunch of conferences. Personally, I’m a father of 2, involved community members, forager, and persistent electronic music noodler.
