Example Projects/Programs:Boston Medical Center (BMC) - Department of Quality and Patient SafetyQuality Improvement HubCo-Founder, senior manager and faculty member of a new center at BMC and BUSM dedicated to quality improvement for enhanced clinical outcomes. Utilizing hospital data, presented case and obtained leadership buy-in, funding and interdepartmental support from senior executives for quality initiatives. Launched 33 improvement projects across BMC and its affiliated community health centers within first year and recruited 17 faculty as improvement coaches for community programs. Boston Medical Center – Department of Orthopedic Surgery Standardized Opioid Prescribing After Orthopedic Surgery Managed implementation of standardized, patient specific opioid prescribing protocol with 7 or 14 day tapers depending on procedure. Increased compliance with hospital opioid prescribing guidelines from 30% to 95%, achieving an overall 35% reduction in average opioids prescribed per patient per discharge. Project selected for presentation at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement National Scientific Symposium, December 2017.Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination Improvement Project (2016-2018)12 Federally Qualified Health Centers affiliated with the American Cancer Society in AL, LA, MO, OK, and TX.The American Cancer Society (ACS) hired BUSM CME Performance Improvement team to supervise and coach 12 Primary Care Managers to implement educational and systems based interventions to improve HPV vaccination rates. Taught ACS staff how to analyze and present data. High satisfaction from clinics, Primary Care Managers and ACS leadership led to renewal of contract for a new set of clinics in larger health systems in 2018.
