I studied an MPhil at the University of Edinburgh for a year and 3 months before leaving for an electronics engineer role in industry. My MPhil project was on LIDAR with focus on low-power for portability. The project was heavily focused on FET-level analogue design using Cadence Virtuoso software with a bit of FPGA programming in Verilog using Xilinx. During my project, I attended IISW '23 as a helper as my supervisors were the organisers. I also demonstrated for two masters-level analogue design courses based on the Cadence Virtuoso software package. One of the courses is focused on developing skills with the software and the second has the students apply their skills to photosensor pixel design. The course begins by having the students develop an equivalent model for a photodiode using a datasheet and then using it as an input for various circuits which are typically used in this application such as transimpedance and charge amplifiers. The second course also contains a practical element in which the students implement some of the circuits with which they were familiarised using a photodiode and pSoC emulator (a device which allows analogue circuits to be emulated in an analogueous fashion to an FPGA for digital circuits).

My role in the Bike Station was primarily refurbishing second hand bicycles which had been donated by members of the public and secondarily as a general store assistant, maintaining the shop, assisting customers and carrying out sales.

I volunteer twice a week at The Bike Station in Edinburgh - I have loved cycling for a long time and aspire to be as competent at fixing bikes as I am at riding them. Hence I volunteer twice a week either fixing bikes or stripping donated bikes for spares and scrap.

Worked with a final year high school student to assemble an FMCW radar. The project included PCB design and microwave engineering.

In Summer 2016 - between my 1st and 2nd years at university - I participated in an internship with power electronics firm Supply Design Ltd. In my time with Supply Design I was involved in affecting the redesign of a 3-phase rectifier module in Supply Design's Harmony Power system. My work was done largely using PSpice digital design software and concluded with the construction and testing of a physical prototype.
