After spending some time as an analyst myself, I moved to a quality assurance role. This mainly involves completing regular reviews of our SOC analysts work to provide scoring for management, as well as coaching and training for the analysts themselves to address any issues found. The work under review ranges from basic frontline SOC work, initial analysis or answering client phone calls for example, right through to much more advanced work such as the Secureworks MDR offering, involving deep dive investigations onto client endpoints using EDR solutions such as Red Cloak and Crowdstrike along with potential response actions.Also included in this role is the creation and documentation of various policies and procedures for SOC workflow, as well as assisting with initial training of SOC personnel.
