As a materials controller, I am responsible for the following:Plan and call off packaging materials to deliver the production schedules across bottling halls, distilleries and subcontractors in Scotland, whilst keeping within agreed stock and value targets.Liaise with suppliers to proactively identify any potential supply issues, ensure supplier capacity is available to meet demand, escalate to Procurement as per agreed policy and raise service defect reports for non-compliance versus contract.Control the costs of stock holding in line with agreed policies whilst ensuring continuity in the production lines, as well as manage the reconciliation of paid and committed stock held externally at the suppliers site as per the agreed process, ensuring that stock levels are within the agreed parameters, obsolescence is minimised and invoice queries resolved in a timely manner.Accountable for managing, reporting and reviewing Company KPI’s relevant to Material Control, ensuring timelines and targets are met.

I started as a boy in the 7th east kilbride company from the age of six and continued through the sections and awards to officer. As an officer i am responsible for organising and running programs. Being an officer in the company I developed through gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment.What I have gained from this:- Communication skills. I have managed to develop these skills, as I am required to work with other officers and work as a team to understand what is going on and how we are going to run the nights. This then in turn is translated into action, through clearly listening to what has been said and implementing it efficiently.- Responsibility. When activities are in place, I am placed in control and everything that goes with it from the planning to the execution of the activity is my responsibility. - Problem solving. No one night is the same and a lot of planning goes into the nights, however not everything goes to plan and some nights will change due to unforeseeable circumstances. In these occasions, I have to think on my feet and come up with solutions to these problems efficiently, so the boy's are kept interested and the night runs smoothly.- Leadership. The boys see us officers as role models and as such it is up to us to lead the way forward on how they should behave towards each other. I not only lead the boys on how to behave in the world but also my fellow officers, by showing what I've learnt from them and how I've used their criticism and influence to better myself and that I'm an asset to the company.

As a Materials Planner, I work within the key areas of the business to develop and maintain the materials department's control systems to service internal and external customer requirements. Some key responsibilities include:- Planning: Understand material requirements to support CMC production schedule.- Participate in Sales and Operations Planning identifying any risks/issues to the proposed Production schedule and provide mitigation plans and recommendations for corrective action to secure supply and service levels.- Work with critical and key suppliers of long lead time items to reduce lead times and mitigate supply risks.- Procurement: Ensure materials are procured in a timely manner by releasing material requisition PO’s as required.- Maintain integrity and accuracy of master data: Manage item information records, Open & Past due PO reports.- Point of contact for all reject material administrative issues raised by production team, following up as necessary with suppliers and other internal stakeholders to resolve matters in a timely manner to avoid disruptions to Production.- Provide management team with details of materials in Quality Rejection location/due for delivery that need to be cleared for Production by means of a weekly report and cross departmental meeting to discuss issues and agree priorities.- Achieve KPI performance metrics to target within area of responsibility.- Maintains and advocates a continuous improvement mindset to identify process improvement and system enhancement opportunities within Planning.

Some key skills I have developed over my time as a chef include but are not limited to:- Manage under pressure, when working in the kitchen often you can find yourself multi tasking and prioritizing what needs done first. I would access what tasks needed done straight away and which ones weren't as important but still needed done.- Communication, is a skill that is constantly developing for me and working in the kitchen has helped strengthen this skill as it is a vital skill to have and used constantly day in and day out. It is essential to communicate with both the kitchen staff and front of house staff to ensure the food is going to the right place at the right time.- Time management, timing is an essential skill to have in the business, as it is ultimately down to times that assist to the success of the business. Too slow and customers get annoyed and too fast can lead to mistakes. It is important to find the balance in times to ensure the same high quality.

As a camp counselor I had many jobs and roles through the working day and no one day was the same. With a staff team of just over 30, we were responsible for over 300 kids a week and had the chance to give them the best summer of there lives as they gave me my best summer too.Key skills developed throughout my experience:- Initiative. A lot of the time schedules would not run accordingly and I would need to take some initiative at these times to help fellow counselors plan new activities or give them time to set some up. By taking initiative, it gave me confidence to step up to new challenges and put myself out there in times of need too.- Eagerness to learn. Before camp started I wanted to learn as much as I could and become an asset to camp, so I became archery certified - a skill i always wanted to pick up but couldn't find the free time - and became a life guard which was eye opening to the dedication that was required.- Leadership. At some points during camp, I was responsible for leading a group of people in an activity and mentoring them through the week. There was no one method that worked for everyone and therefore I needed to adapt my way of leading to best suit individuals.
