Education Specialist I spearheaded the planning and execution of Nascent’s education and literacy strategy while serving as a subject matter expert on new business development initiatives, including proposal writing and support management to expand education presence. Besides building and nurturing a strong relationship with key government agencies in target countries, I drafted and executed specific programs, materials, and training manuals and facilitated teacher professional development. I collaborated with all technical units to ensure education interests are closely integrated with other organizational sectors. Education & Youth Development Technical Advisor/Gender Empowerment Team I was responsible for offering technical, programmatic, and managerial support to CARE’s global education and youth programming, promoting consistent approaches to program quality. Besides serving as the primary contact for country offices, I spearheaded the move to programmatic approaches in key strategic CARE country offices by integrating education, youth, and girls 'empowerment strategies with other sectors. I built and nurtured professional networks of education and youth-focused personnel from information-sharing to practice communities emphasizing innovation, scale-up, and monitoring and evaluation success. I also facilitated ministries of education in instituting the Accelerated Learning curriculum for children out of school to give them a second chance to get an education as part of their CBE programs. I was integral in broadening access to Quality Basic Education, emphasizing reinforcing lifelong literacy in Mali. Apart from serving as USAID representative to the Ministry of Education, I conducted policy analysis and development on international education programs. I managed USAID/Mali’s education team and program and offered technical directions and guidance to the contractor. Besides carrying out report analysis and determining the program, policy, and other implications by the Education Team and the Ministry of Education, I served as an acquisition Officer Representative (AOR) for “Improved Access to Quality Education in Lower Secondary school” - a $22 million project. I acted as Activity Manager and Alternate COR for the “Share Governance Program” and Education Decentralization Program a $27.5 million. I also orchestrated joint management of programs and activities as a means to build the management capacity of team members. Additionally, I identified training needs and opportunities available to build the capacity of education team staff.

I facilitated Millennium Village Project countries in accomplishing Millennium Development Goal in Education (Mali, Senegal, Ghana, and Nigeria). I partnered with the Governments to develop and reinforce laws and regulations allowing parents and communities to make their schools more responsible. In addition to being instrumental in enhancing the curriculum's contents, quality, and relevance, I coached and mentored teachers and removed school fees at the fundamental primary schooling cycles. I coordinated with the local and national education authorities to create and implement MDG based education programs. Besides facilitating the execution of school feeding programs with locally produced foods to offer safe, nutritious, and quality meals for all children, I introduced incentive measures for parents to send their children to school, specifically girls, and facilitated school scholarship village funds intended to support disadvantaged pupils. I also designed appropriate follow-up tools and organized follow-ups in order to ensure good progress of the education activities in the Millennium Villages.

Regional Education Program ManagerI directed the program Promoting Gender Equitable Basic Education in West Africa (Burkina-Faso, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, and Niger), targeting mainly the pastoralist zone covering the north of Mali, the north of Burkina, the north of Niger plus Liberia, and the north of Ghana. Apart from establishing civil society, communities, and community-based organizations to facilitate governments to deliver on Education For All (EFA) goals and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), I encouraged good quality education in pastoralist zone and HIV/AIDS awareness into the education program. I supported national policy analysis, advocacy, and campaigning. Besides overseeing projects at the regional and country-level and directed education program staff, I orchestrated Partnership management (partners and donors) and Project budgets. I designed education policy analysis and advocacy components to the program, supporting partners to advocate at local and national levels. I also included gender equity issues that are taken into account in all aspects of education programming. Moreover, I promoted Advocacy coalition building and served as the primary person for the African Network Campaign for Education for All (ANCEFA) for the West Africa region.
