About Eugene Eisenstein
I'm currently working with a small education-focused non-profit to expand their mission into language education, preservation and translation for low resource languages. I'm focused on research & development of modern transformer-based NLP methods in the low to medium resource setting, with a focus on specific problems and both scraped and curated datasets. It's a passion project that I'm attempting to scale.Prior to that, I ran an R&D Machine Learning team in the consumer bank at JPMorgan Chase, focused on fraud modeling. It is not an exaggeration that we, together with our business and technology partners, set a new SOTA for consumer-to-consumer fraud prevention models in the industry. I'm incredibly proud of what my team accomplished.Prior to this I co-founded two startups, one as CTO and one as CEO. The first provided risk analytics to broker dealers and hedge funds, and the second used ideas from derivatives pricing to construct goal driven strategies for the investments of retail customers. Before the startups I was a quant working in model research and validation at Goldman Sachs. I was team lead of a team that specialized in market risk, credit risk, and CVA models.I graduated with a mathematics PhD from the University of Michigan.
