Served as a Technical Specialist for the Citation Integrity Project (CIP), a branch of the ScienceNLP Lab and Information Quality Lab at the School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The project developed and validated resources and models to assist stakeholders in assessing biomedical publications for citation accuracy and integrity. A publicly available annotated corpus was created and used to develop natural language processing/artificial intelligence (NLP/AI) models for assessing the reporting quality in biomedical articles.

During my tenure as a Knowledge Management Intern at Syngenta Seeds AG, I was responsible for analyzing and structuring large data sets, migrating data to archival systems, and collaborating with internal stakeholder groups to develop IT solutions that support structured content. My role also involved maintaining Syngenta's health, safety, and environmental standards.A significant part of my internship was leading the cross-functional global PVPR (Plant Variety Protection/Registration) Automation Project. This initiative aimed to improve efficiency in the PVPR application package development process and enhance data quality in the Veeva database. I developed a Single Point Of Truth (SPOT) for technical questionnaires, analyzed data/document requirements across various countries, and considered systems connectivity for automating PVPR application development.Through this project, I had the opportunity to work with the Regulatory Knowledge Management, Global Market Access Team, and Local Regulatory Team, focusing on key crops such as Soybean and Tomato, among others. This project underscored the importance of efficient data management and system connectivity in the agro-industry.

Analysis and modeling of standardized genetic engineering aid to quickly determine the best combinations of genes to optimize the process for both energycane and Miscanthus. Such analysis could lead to a future where ROGUE Miscanthus could produce 86 billion gallons of biodiesel on 178 million acres of land—which is the equivalent of 80 percent of our nation’s diesel.

Undergraduate researcher at Renewable Oil Generated with Ultra-Productive Energycane (ROGUE) project in the Carl R. Woese Institute of Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. ROGUE is a continuation of the work from the research project Plants Engineered to Replace Oil in Sugarcane and Sweet Sorghum (PETROSS), supported by a $10.6 million grant from the Office of Biological and Environmental Research in the Office of Science in the U.S. Department of Energy. The ROGUE project is engineering two of the most productive American crops—energycane and Miscanthus—to create an abundant and sustainable supply of oil that can be used to produce biodiesel, biojet fuel, and bioproducts, bringing us one step closer to a future fueled by plants.
