NGO focused on projects to promote the health and well-being of women across South Africa. Donors include the Ford Foundation, National Department of Health, CDC, DFID UK, the European Union, the Global Fund, and the GBVF Response Fund. Employs +/- 40 staff.Key responsibilities:• Report to the CEO and manage 13 staff with 2 direct reports, the Finance Manager, and the HR and Facilities Manager.• Executive member of the Board of Directors. Non-executive for two investment holding subsidiaries and for a renewable energy and operations and maintenance company in which Soul City holds shares.Financial and Operational Management:- Developed the financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure assets and donor funds are safeguarded and that donors can receive accurate reports. - Annual statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS for SMEs.- Review of financial reports, prepared for donors of grants of over R1.2m.Procurement:- Developed the procurement policies and procedures for the organization and review and approve requests for deviations.HR & Payroll:- Member of the recruitment panel for all senior staff and the finance team.Governance:- Member of EXCO and developed all company policies and procedures relating to finance, IT, and HR.Strategy:- Strategic planning, including advising the CEO based on financial analysis and forecasts.Risk Management & Compliance:- Risk identification and assessment of controls. Ensuring that there are sufficient funds to complete projects and achieve objectives.Legal Oversight:- Review all contracts over R1m.Achievements:• Developed the Board Charters for Soul City Institute and Soul City Broad-Based Empowerment Company, to ensure compliance with the King Report on governance.• Wrote the Terms of Reference for the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee.• Designed the methodology for recovering salaries and overheads from donors.
