Basic Command Unit

I hold strategic leadership of up to 50 staff; setting the direction of the unit to ensure optimal service delivery. As the lead for public protection, I drive rigorous safeguarding in relation to domestic abuse, serious sexual offending and child protection. Driving multi-agency engagement, I have driven effective change, modernised approaches and delivered best practice. This sensitive and challenging role requires the most effective supervision of resources to consistently meet exacting time restraints and manage budget demands. I ensure exceptional supervision of these sensitive cases; exercising a thoughtful and tenacious approach. I have successfully implemented significant change; enhancing crime management services and driving dynamic supervision through the development of a highly effective mentoring programme to promote shared learning and best practice. In addition, I serve in an on call capacity; rapidly responding to and assessing and managing high risk, high threat, evolving critical incidents across seven London boroughs.

Child Abuse And Sexual Offences Command

Leading a team of 24, I oversaw high risk, serious and complex investigations. I directed the use of a range of innovative tactics; identifying and responding to extreme risk. I planned and implemented proactive operations and investigations, setting strategies and providing operational direction whilst mitigating risk and ensuring legal compliance. I worked in successful liaison with a range of key partners, promoting appropriate information sharing and contributing to protective decision making processes to deliver continually improving and evolving safeguarding. I drove proactive development across all services, driving improved outcomes for victims of crime, enhancing working practices around bail management and through undertaking a comprehensive review and delivering significant improvement in disclosure practices.

Criminal Investigation Department

Within some of the most challenging and busy areas of London, I was tasked with the supervision of investigations and evidence gathering. I led on a wide range of cases including fraud, burglary robbery and serious violence, ensuring delivery of the very highest standards of evidence to support convictions. My role included the management of serious crime scenes and complex investigations and leading teams in the crime reduction initiatives and robust risk management. In addition, I led a community safety unit, driving rigorous safeguarding in relation to domestic abuse and honour based abuse; identifying and responding to related risk. I ensured exceptional supervision of these sensitive cases to ensure the most positive outcomes. Within 14 months, I transformed my team’s performance rating to first in MPS across all areas of performance; rising from an original rating of 28th out of the 32 London boroughs. I served as the chair of the local Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), proactively developing resilient partner relationships and driving collaboration with the overarching aim of securing a robust safeguarding provision.

Criminal Investigation Department

Leading a team, I held responsibility for investigations, overseeing a significant caseload, ensuring effective prioritisation of deadlines and objectives. I supervised initial planning and setting strategy, investigating lines of enquiry, completion of case papers through to presenting evidence at Court, consistently demonstrating clear understanding of all legal and ethical requirements. I also served in specialist roles:Community Safety Unit - I led investigations into some of the most challenging crimes; securing convictions whilst supporting, often highly vulnerable, victims. Working in successful liaison with multi-agency partners, I secured high levels of customer satisfaction and positive feedback. Burglary and Robbery Squad - monitoring trends, developing analysis and responding to fast time intelligence to secure the most constructive outcomes.

Serious Crime Directorate

Selected to join this specialist unit, I was tasked to investigate both recent and historic child abuse offences and child homicides. I undertook the analysis and review of these most serious and challenging cases; devising proportionate lines of enquiry to review and apply more advanced techniques and innovations that had become available.

Operational Policing - London

Beginning service as a constable, I built a strong foundation of enquiry, observation and personal interaction. I undertook a variety of roles, providing immediate response to critical incidents and the management of a wide range of operational activities. I demonstrated the ability to process information quickly and accurately and the ability to connect meaningfully with people even in the most challenging of circumstances. I was selected to transfer to detective duties having demonstrated an intelligent and competent eye for detail, enquiry and observation.
