ARCO is a cloud-based, distributed platform designed to manage and collect data from thousands of IoT and security devices ARCO is an event based system that uses docker containers, the elastic-stack, and event-sourcing to achieve high reliability & throughput and an Angular front end for a rich data-driven user experience.As the first SPG Employee, and based on previous experience with security products, I’ve driven ARCO’s product vision & architecture from its conception. ARCO has recently been bought out by Securitas and Stanley Black & Decker and is being rolled out as the cloud SaaS platform on AWS for their various IoT & security products.Through the process I’ve managed a team of nine developers split across Australia & Asia, a complex product backlog for a new and dynamic product, and worked with UI/UX experts to distil complex interactions.Stack: Microservices, Event Sourcing, AWS, Pulumi, NGINX, Keycloak, OIDC, OAuth, Docker, gRPC, Angular, Typescript, DotNet, Elasticsearch

Moneycatcha is a fintech startup working on analysing risk and reporting on mortgage data & securities on blockchain and ledger databases. I’ve worked on the Regchain and Stryd products, including working with consultants on the AWS Well Architected Review, the CAIQ Security Assessment, React & Java code, and the Open Banking and Consumer Data Standard APIs.

Unison is an alarm & access control monitoring platform with 500 installations worldwide, including airports, maximum security prisons, hospitals, military, and government buildings.Its key strength is as an integration platform that integrates to over 60 different devices including alarm, fire panels, access control, doors, intercoms, video, elevator, key & asset systems, and other enterprise applications. Unison is Pacom’s flagship enterprise software product, which has 15+ Pacom developers over three teams working on it, as well as developers from various third-party companies independently working on new integrations.I orchestrated a transition to a new hybrid-cloud architecture, motivated by the scalability, performance, and maintenance issues caused by growing the platform to a larger size, and changing requirements. The system is being converted from a monolithic system with a SQL bottleneck to a scalable hybrid-cloud microservice platform using DDD/CQRS/Reactive principles.

I was team lead for two teams (One Unison Team and the Pacom .is EMCS Team) and interim lead on a third. The role involved providing technical guidance and mentoring developers, providing code reviews, ensuring code quality remains high, technical job interviews, identifying developer strengths, and task management.I have helped create two very cohesive and high-performing teams that work extremely well together, communicate well, and enjoy their jobs. We attended various software meetups as a team. I often present new technologies, or encourage others to present, and communicate the technical roadmap of the products to developers, management and the wider Pacom/Stanley team.

The Pacom .is EMCS Platform (Enterprise Management & Control System) is an enterprise level security management system designed for the banking industry and larger scale systems. It is Pacom’s larger scale enterprise system that supports around a million devices and is designed to work in strict banking IT environments.I have been involved in the architecture of this system from its conception, and for the past five years or so have been the primary architect with a focus on improving stability, performance, scalability, security & communications.

Some key projects during my early career:- Pacom Witness Project: A small team of two to three developers produced a complicated competitive video product designed to stream video over low bandwidth mobile channels. I designed and built the Embedded Device video processing pipeline and the Windows Client- Pacom .is: Worked as a Senior Software Engineer on Pacom's new software platform, using .NET v1.0 with a message bus architecture- Pacom GMS: I’ve travelled and worked closely with customers on various software integrations (Hong-Kong Fire Department, SKL - Swedish Government Offices, Video Integration) and the embedded device management
