With my energy and passion for people, I’ve been able to win over my colleagues and management, and ensuring the best possible interpersonal relationships in the workspace. With my hard work and pro-activeness, I’ve been able to ensure that I’m at the top of my game with new resources or skills needed for work.Nearing completing of my Diploma in Financial Accounting, I had the opportunity of completing my Work-Integrated-Learning at the Western Cape Provincial Treasury which gave me insight into Government Accounting. There, I acquired new skills and grasped new concepts and policies, such as the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National and Provincial Treasury regulations. I was also afforded the opportunity in assisting in reviewing and documenting business procedures for the compilation of Annual Financial Statements and Interim Financial Statements. I was also given other tasks in the office space as well as in meetings to sometimes draft minutes.In May of 2019, I managed to get the opportunity to work for the Amazon Development Centre, also based in Cape Town. This is where I currently respond to customers’ inquiries on calls, chat, and/or emails. Whatever new service that Amazon would launch, I study the product(s)/service(s) and relay those to Amazon customers. Any escalations, I ensure to send them through to the relevant channels accordingly. Not only have I been based in the UK Retail department, I’ve also been a part of Transaction Risk Management Systems (TRMS) assisting in the A to Z Guarantee Claims field. This is where we’d screen accounts, assist in monitoring transactions or patterns of suspicious behaviour, assessing the need for a Claim being filed against a Seller, and also responsible for granting, denying, or withdrawing A to Z Guarantee Claims. In the beginning of the pandemic brought on by COVID-19, I was made point of contact (POC) for my team with regards to any updates sent by management on how the business would proceed or manage. I ensured the team were always well-equipped with sanitising tools for their desks and sent daily reminders on practices to follow to curb the spread within the working space. I’m currently furthering my studies with a BCom General, specialising in Financial Accounting and Information Systems. I hope to expand my horizons in my studies and work, and continue to gel well in any space I find myself.
