Serves as a Certified Community Health Outreach Worker for the North Carolina Formerly Incarcerated Transition Program(NC-FIT). Works individually with participants to connect them with health information and health care services, while assisting in the navigation of these services. Identifies and assists participants in addressing the social drivers of health such as: housing, employment, food, and other barriers to successfully re-engage in society after incarceration. Works very closely with various community agencies and Health and Human Services organizations.

Recruits talent within the NC Works Online system to fill various job opportunities that employers have posted as open positions within their company. Assists job seekers with fine-tuning resumes, job interview skills, interpersonal skills, and administering career guidance. Contact employers on customers behalf to check availability of potential job opening, while advocating for customer and showcasing customers skillset both in-person and via telephone and email. Filing various documents into a Government database. Managing a caseload of specialized trained individuals to assist in securing employment. Reviewing Individual Employment Plans (IEP). Communicating with employers about incentives associated with hiring individuals in special populations. Work with employers to find talent primarily in the NC Works online system. Update job orders in the NC Works Online system. Hosting employer focused forums based on occupational and employer needs. Participate in employer-led networking sessions to enhance company brand and visibility. Marketing the value of the talent-rich NC Works system. Facilitate work-based learning programs like OJT and Work Experience

Facilitates registration process into NC Works. Outreach to various agencies, schools, and employers. Responsible for job placement, career exploration, job listings, assessments, job referrals, training referrals. Facilitates job readiness skills class, with an emphasis on individuals with criminal backgrounds. Provide information on state expunctions laws, specialized trainings, targeted initiatives, and incentive programs to employers, community agencies, and various stakeholders. Hosting city wide job fairs for work-ready job seekers. Recruiting employers to participate in meet and greets with job seekers at after hour events.

This unique position required specialized training to; address the needs of justice served/involved, educate employers, and expand the network of support services. Facilitated group sessions using various learning techniques. Exceeded in reaching the overall goal, which was to work with former offenders in a comprehensive program that increases the customers’ employability. Screened potential candidates to determine eligibility for services. Established and maintained relationships with agencies and organizations that are utilized to assist justice served/involved individuals and their needs. Responsible for job placement utilizing the Transitional Employment (Work Experience) program as well as On-The-Job (OJT) training.
