From 2016 to 2019, I trained selected lower secondary students for various Mathematical Olympiads, giving them a chance to showcase their Mathematical prowess. As a result, students won accolades from competitions such as the Singapore Mathematical Olympiads and the Australian Mathematics Competition. I was level coordinator from 2017 to 2019 for Secondary 3 or Secondary 4 Additional Mathematics where I crafted resources that teachers from the level could use to guide the students in the classroom. This led the cohorts to achieve value-added status. Moreover, I served as the facilitator for one of the Mathematics Professional Learning Teams from 2018 to 2019, where we explored and implemented ideas to effect change in our lessons. Feedback from students was that they learnt how Mathematics connected to their experience in the real world, instead of learning the subject theoretically. In 2019, I joined the Academic Programmes Committee, where we looked into planning appropriate academic structures for effective teaching and learning. I worked out a structure, with inputs from the Heads of Departments, for the 4 Express, 4 and 5 Normal (Academic) students to be engaged after their prelims and before their national examinations. In addition, I planned the timetables for around 70 teachers that taught these classes and ensured a smooth implementation. In 2017, I was the Chairman of the Staff Welfare Committee, where we spearheaded a refreshed Staff VIA among other initiatives. We collaborated with many agencies such as Pasir Ris Family Service Centre, Senior Activity Centre at Blk 212A Pasir Ris St 21, Health Promotion Board and Pasir Ris East Community Club. As a result, many staff were grateful for our efforts in organising the meaningful activities. For our efforts, our team was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award (Team) and I was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award (Individual) in 2017, and the MOE Service Excellence Award (Gold) in 2018.
