Teaches Research Methods in Political Science, Intro to American Government, and Intro to Political Science

Intern under the title of Legislative Assistant. Works with Senator to identify, review, analyze statistics and legislation. Attends congressional hearings, meetings with administration and with local nonprofit organizations, and lastly, assists Senator with preparation of meetings, attaining volunteers, drafting agendas, and informing chairs of nonprofit sectors of issues relevant to their programs. Cohost of InSight Rouge radio show with Senator Regina Barrow.

Determines admissibility, transferability of credit, and residency for students in graduate programs (degree seeking and non-degree seeking). Serves as a liaison between prospective students and the academic departments regarding the status of their applications, admissions and enrollment. Tracks applicants through the admission process and works with other university constituents to advance and follow up on incomplete files. Coordinates the application waiver and refund process. (30%)Implements university policy regarding the conduct code, transcripts, and required admission documentation and ensures adherence to rules regarding university admission. Performs credential evaluations for international and domestic prospects. Enters student data and admission decisions into the appropriate systems. Meets with prospective students to explain graduate education, guide them through the admission and enrollment process, including directing them to other appropriate offices or departments on campus. Produces reports as requested. (20%)Oversees resolution of applicant challenges regarding the admissions process. Makes recommendations and keeps current the procedures manual for the admissions processing area. Makes recommendations to the Assistant Director on procedures used to implement university rules from admissions through acceptance into the university. Serves as a trainer for the admissions unit. (20%)Facilitates informational workshops, orientation sessions for campus employees, and training efforts to provide assistance and guidance related to Graduate Recruiting and Admission processes. Assists in designing content and materials for such sessions. Represents the office in events as determined by supervisor. (15%)Participates in cross-training with other Graduate School personnel, and assists in covering these duties as assigned. Provides regular reporting about job tasks, and assists in identifying areas for process improvement. (15%)

The Graduate Assistant (GA) in this position has primary responsibility for evaluating basic academic credentials to determine admissibility to the Graduate School. In addition, the GA spends time performing routine clerical tasks and assisting in the daily operation of the office. This position currently reports to the Graduate Student Services Assistant Director. 90% Research and Evaluation of Academic Credentials Determine the accreditation status of institutions the applicant attended by referencing various publications, reports, and resource materials.Verify authenticity and origin of transcripts and determine whether official, unofficial, or incomplete.Evaluate transcripts as to the academic unit, grading system, and level of study (undergraduate, graduate, post-baccalaureate, and/or professional) reported.Calculate Grade Point Averages for all levels of study.Determine additional documents needed by applicant such as test scores, financial affidavit, or statement of activities.Record findings on-line using the Admissions Data Management System (ADM). 10% General Office Duties and Special Projects Enter documents into the Admissions Data Management System.Assist with general office duties including scanning, filing, copying, answering telephones, and assisting walk-in visitors when needed.Review and update evaluation procedures manual.Other duties / projects as needed.

Worked with now Senator Regina Barrow to analyze voter turnout in district areas, so that the campaign manager would be able to send volunteers to the appropriate areas. Also worked with campaign manager to recruit volunteers to the campaign effort.

The Site Coordinator provides club members with daily programs and activities which include elements of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) core program areas and Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge (GBRBGC) lead programs. These programs and activities are age appropriate, produce measurable outcomes, and enhance a member’s sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence.
