Analysis for each major operating area, identified over AUD $50m or 40% of current inventory levels was potentially obsolete stock or surplus to requirements.Initiated and conducted the cost saving analysis of the third party labour category spend. The analysis identified inconsistencies in pay rates, other commercial terms, hiring practices and current market trends. Upon full implementation of recommendations, the project delivered over $50m in ‘Year on Year’ savings and sustainable process improvements.

This involved extensive engagement with contract owners, senior leadership and category management specialists. Successfully awarded contracts totaling $1B in value during FY15 with an approximate 10% ‘year on year’ average reduction on FY14 baseline.Developed and led Indigenous Participation Programs including the introduction of a targeted Aboriginal Participation Sourcing Charter which has increased employment and developed aboriginal enterprises, resulting in a 400% increase in direct aboriginal enterprise spend to approximately $10m annually.Developed and managed the contract rationalisation strategy that incorporated restructuring the Category Management team to three distinct functions (Strategic, Tactical and Capital) with a unique combination of vendor, operational ownership and category management. Contracts reduced by 300 to approximately 200 through targeted sourcing, product and service rationalisation.Implemented a High Risk/Spend supplier calibration and performance contract monitoring system to improve contract management and commercial compliance.Designed and implemented a new Internal Control Program, eliminating commercial risk and becoming the first BHP Billiton Asset globally to have zero internal audit findings.
