Reporting to the Head of Supply, managed a team of five to conduct detailed analysis of the processes, data, organisation design and system effectiveness to identify and diagnose inefficiencies in the entire supply chain.Asset president selected supply lead in two business transformation projects, engaging with internal stakeholders, suppliers and Mckinsey consultants were able to identify over $700m in annualized cost saving. Savings identified included resource levelling, throughput, maintenance efficiency, capital and external spend rationalisation. Led a detailed inventory analysis review to reduce inventory holdings and cost of capital. Analysis for each major operating area, identified over AUD $50m or 40% of current inventory levels was potentially obsolete stock or surplus to requirements.Initiated and conducted the cost saving analysis of the third party labour category spend. The analysis identified inconsistencies in pay rates, other commercial terms, hiring practices and current market trends. Upon full implementation of recommendations, the project delivered over $50m in ‘Year on Year’ savings and sustainable process improvements.

Reporting to the Head of Supply, managed a team of 15 sourcing specialists and advisor to deliver all sourcing and commercial contract management for all good, service and capital contracts for Olympic Dam Corporation Pty Ltd, ~$1.4B per annum.Initiated and implemented the introduction of the BHP Olympic Dam Strategic Sourcing Plan. This involved extensive engagement with contract owners, senior leadership and category management specialists. Successfully awarded contracts totaling $1B in value during FY15 with an approximate 10% ‘year on year’ average reduction on FY14 baseline.Developed and led Indigenous Participation Programs including the introduction of a targeted Aboriginal Participation Sourcing Charter which has increased employment and developed aboriginal enterprises, resulting in a 400% increase in direct aboriginal enterprise spend to approximately $10m annually.Developed and managed the contract rationalisation strategy that incorporated restructuring the Category Management team to three distinct functions (Strategic, Tactical and Capital) with a unique combination of vendor, operational ownership and category management. Contracts reduced by 300 to approximately 200 through targeted sourcing, product and service rationalisation.Implemented a High Risk/Spend supplier calibration and performance contract monitoring system to improve contract management and commercial compliance.Designed and implemented a new Internal Control Program, eliminating commercial risk and becoming the first BHP Billiton Asset globally to have zero internal audit findings.

Reporting to the Supply Manager, managed a team of six to deliver strategic sourcing and contract management for all service, capital, material and good contracts for Olympic Dam Mine and Services Divisions, a spend of approximately $500m pa.Supply Lead seconded onto the Clark Shaft Recovery Project (AUD $80m) to provide commercial support and strategic sourcing advice to recover critical mining production which was delivered injury free and ahead of schedule.Project lead negotiator during Global Financial Crisis with analysis and negotiation of the top 60 major contractors, delivering annualized cost savings of $20.7m within three months.Collaborating with contract owners was able to introduce new Key Performance Indicators and performance monitoring of key contracts. Improved analysis and standardised management of key contracts including Scaffolding, Mobile Cranes, Fleet Management, Electrical Consumables, Industrial Supplies and Smelter Bulk Handling resulted in improved safety, production, people and commercial performance.
