Graduate Research Assistant
I have had the privilege to compete in the DARPA Subterranean Challenge, the "Super Bowl of Mobile Robotics." The research question: Can robots autonomously accomplish tasks in unknown environments, such as search and rescue? The answer: Yes, human-supervised autonomy is highly capable, but complete autonomy not yet reliable enough for mission-critical tasks. As a part of team MARBLE, we are proud and honored to have placed 3rd, representing the top American-led team.My contributions to the autonomy stack evolved throughout the project, and include obstacle avoidance, terrain-aware perception, and localization. As a Project Engineer, I provided direction and leadership that enabled our team to produce a reliable, and high-performance autonomy solution.
