The Oostvaarderskliniek is a TBS-clinic (maximum security mental hospital). I work on several wards, including the maximum care ward and I am the principal doctor (eerste geneeskundige).

From 2003 till 2011 I worked part-time in interim positions. For instance two years at a forensic psychiatric clinic in Lunteren, Gelderland; and 18 months at an addiction out-patient clinic in Zeist, Utrecht; and 5 months at a forensic out-patient clinic.Since January 2011 I am working full-time in interim positions: two days at a TBS-clinic and three.

I used to have a private practice in Bilthoven. I did this one day a week form 1999 - 2017.

For criminal courts I evaluate people who are involved in the criminal justice system. I write specialized reports about people who are admitted to TBS-clinics and need to be evaluated by an independant psychiatrist from outside the clinic.

I used to teach Addiction Psychiatry to residents / registrars / AIOS in a course of six afternoons. Also I have an hour-and-a-half presentation in which the subject is summarized. I used to teach medical students in Utrecht four days a year in a course on Public Health and two days a year in a course on addiction. As well I used to each Motivational.

Four and a half years I worked as a senior psychiatrist in addiction-psychiatry at Centrum Maliebaan in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. I coached and supervised 70 collegues in helping addiction patients get insight into their habits and get a grip on those habits.

De Waag is a forensic-psychiatric outpatient clinic. In 1999 it had only one location, in Utrecht. Nowadays it has eight or more locations throughout the Randstad (the populated western part of the Netherlands). A collegue and I wrote the first Dutch protocol for anti-libido medication. This medication can help sex-offenders to diminish their sex-drive.
