As a Senior Presenter I have delivered over 100 study skill seminars to students in South-East Queensland, NSW and Victoria. This role required the operation of Evening Advice Sessions twice weekly: organising clients and liaising with Migration Agents and Advisors. I conducted the daily operation of CLSIS – the Community Legal Service Information System – for conflict of interest checks, referrals, and the collection of client data for ongoing case management. Other standard secretarial duties included: answering phones and email, filing, creating and maintaining schedules for lawyers, ordering supplies, copying, faxing, referrals to other community programs and services and mail deliveries to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Worked primarily in the assistance of the PAIS Primary Application and Information Service program. Assisted Migration Agents with the preparation of initial documents for PAIS Clients, included the (424A) Request for Access to Document Information, (490) Arrival Interview form, Client File Agreement, File Summaries and Statutory Declarations. This also included the assistance of PAIS Paralegals in client interviews for the 424As and the filling of this data into CLSIS.

As part of my work experience I worked as an assistant for QC Elizabeth Wilson and was also given several opportunities to shadow Chief Justice Catherine Holmes. I was able to observe the courtroom: watching the discourse between barristers and solicitors from behind the front bench. Everyday in the courtroom varied highly depending on whether it was a trial, sentencing, pre-records or a hearing. With access to the judge’s commentary as the proceedings unfolded really added to the value of my experience and gave me invaluable insight.
