As a member of the Senior Leadership Team in the Exams Distribution business area, I was responsible for the overall business development strategy of Exams Distribution and generating new business for existing and new clients in the professional body and university sectors in the UK, that wished to deliver paper-based and computer-based asssessments worldwide, whether they were invigilated in-centre or online. This encompassed all aspects of marketing, lead generation, solution development, bid management and contract negotiations.

I was responsible for new partnership and business development for the China and ASEAN regions. My remit is broad ranging and includes regional strategic planning and reporting for the two regions, customer account management, relationship development with our Chinese partner (CSCSE), new centre business development, marketing and event planning, complying with all due diligence requirements, and the appointment, budgeting and performance management of in-country agents and partners as well as the regional team in Scotland.

I was responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities to meet specified sales targets, with a particular focus on ESOL and ESOL for Work qualifications across the UK. During my tenure uptake and income for SQA ESOL qualifications grew by 700%. My remit included the preparation of a ESOL sales & marketing strategy and then the writing and project management of all sales and marketing activities – brochures, exhibitions, website updates, direct marketing, PR, telemarketing/coldcalling and networking at external events.
