I am currently working at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) as a postdoctoral researcher. My role includes implementing an improved AMReX library code for complex geometry via reading an STL file within the embedded boundary. Having a triangulated surface in an STL format, this project aims to allow AMReX users to have broad options of solid objects for their research in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). As I value my time with co-workers/teammates, I seek a workplace to expand my knowledge in Applied Mathematics and help me grow professionally while allowing a healthy work-life balance as a female researcher. My primary research interests are modeling and developing stable, accurate, and efficient computational algorithms for multi-physics problems. For my Ph.D. dissertation, I simulate a settling marine aggregate in a low Reynolds number flow. To obtain precise and efficient three-dimensional simulations, I used a boundary integral formulation evaluated with the Fast Multipole Method (FMM), a GMRES solver, and finite difference schemes. For this project, I wrote codes in MATLAB coupled with the open-source FMM3D library, authored by the Flatiron Institute. I use our campus HPC resources, the MERCED and Pinnacels clusters, to address the computational requirements and large amounts of data required.In the summer of 2021, I interned at NREL under the guidance of Dr. Michael Martin, a researcher in the HPACF group. I studied the properties of liquid helium numerically to understand its behavior at low temperatures. To investigate this, we considered the Equation of State (EoS) by McCarty and Arp. I implemented a comprehensive Python package to understand helium’s properties for wide temperature and pressure ranges, including enthalpy and entropy changes.In the summer of 2022, under the mentorship of Dr. Ishan Srivastava, a research scientist at CCSE, we worked on continuum modeling of complex fluids with second-order rheology. We primarily focused on the rheology of granular materials. We modeled a stress tensor using a second-order shear strain rate and external pressure. My main task was implementing a new stress tensor model into the Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMReX) framework in C++. We aimed to capture more realistic complex continuum hydrodynamics with a constitutive rheology code.
