I lived as a kkotjebi(homeless child) in North Korea and defected to escape hunger, but was captured by Chinese authorities and forcibly repatriated to North Korea. This experience provided me with firsthand insight into the severe human rights abuses under the North Korean regime. In 2006, I came to South Korea in search of a dignified life. Since 2008, I have been actively involved in human rights advocacy, working to improve the lives of North Korean defectors and raise awareness about the human rights violations occurring within North Korea.As the author of "A Thousand Miles to Freedom," I reveal not only the lives of North Korean people living in conditions akin to a vast prison but also the experiences of defectors who risk their lives to escape hunger and seek freedom. My memoir goes beyond my personal story of escape to offer insights into the severe human rights abuses, political repression, forced labor, and lack of basic freedoms within North Korea.My work includes public speaking, writing, and collaborating with human rights organizations to raise global awareness and mobilize international support. I am dedicated to creating a future where North Koreans can enjoy freedoms and rights that many take for granted. I aim to raise awareness, influence policy, and support defectors in rebuilding their lives.I am eager to connect with others who share this vision and are interested in collaborating for positive change.
