Hello!I'm a recent college graduate with strong convictions about the power of human relationships - more specifically, the importance of relationship building in nonprofit development. During my undergraduate career, I've been fortunate to work with the Eastern Michigan University Foundation as we closed our $100 million campaign. As the Volunteer Engagement Advancement Student Ambassador, I was given the opportunity to interact one-on-one with donors and alumni, receiving valuable insight into how these relationships are carefully cultivated. I strongly believe that tapping into interpersonal human connection is one of our most powerful tools for advancing the public good. This past year, I was given the responsibility of piloting a volunteer group for the Foundation. This volunteer group gave EMU students an opportunity to engage with donors and alumni and was designed to strengthen the organizational culture at EMU. This experience has been invaluable - I now have experience recruiting volunteers, recognizing volunteers, planning meetings and events, developing policies and procedures (including recruitment procedures, disciplinary procedures, and strategic planning). This practical experience has been complimented by my Nonprofit Administration and Communication coursework. With my degree, I've learned about best practices in personnel management, nonprofit leadership, management, listening behavior, public and nonprofit budgeting, and communication theory.I'm very passionate about creating more equitable local food systems. I like to spend my weekends at home volunteering at my local food bank, and served as the President of the EMU Chapter of the Food Recovery Network for two years, where we were able to recover nearly 1500 lbs of food for local nonprofits. During my time in Student Government, I advocated for additional funding for Swoop's Food Pantry, securing over 10,000 dollars in university funding to provide food access for my classmates. A long-term goal of mine is to open a food pantry/community kitchen/garden in a community that needs one. I'm looking for a place to begin a long and impactful career - I'd love to connect!!
