Profile bio

About Eva Hamori

I'm deeply passionate about Property Management and the broader Real Estate industry. When not managing my Vancouver Island portfolio for an investment company, I'm immersed in studying dynamic Real Estate markets and strategically investing in my own portfolio. On a personal note, our family embarked on an incredible ten-year journey across Europe, dividing our time between France and Hungary. We delved into tourism and education, and also managed rental properties in both countries.During this period, we launched LivEnglish France/Hungary, providing an immersive English-learning experience for Europeans wishing to learn English during their holidays. In France, and Hungary I pursued further education and taught in the English department in the French Private School system.Inspired by this chapter of our lives, 'My Expat Life, That's Hamori', a travel adventure blog was created to chronicle our journey. This exposure led to various magazine articles, commercials, and eventually my book 'Eating Foie Gras in my Toque', chronicling our first year adjusting to life in France with young children. We also made appearances on HGTV's House Hunters International, diving into property hunts, renovations, and sharing our story. It was a prolific time in our lives. Our ten-year odyssey was filled with diverse experiences, witnessing our children grow in a rich cultural environment. We embraced new traditions, languages, and developed our businesses along the way.Now back in Canada, we're setting new foundations on Vancouver Island. Our children have grown into capable adults, one pursuing International Business and has set up his own e-commerce start-up and the other embarking on her first GAP year abroad solo and enrolled in Political Science to head towards a career in Diplomacy in the fall. They've become well-rounded individuals, a testament to the incredible journey we've shared.Professionally, I'm continuing my education in the field of Real Estate with further certification and presently working on my Brokerage license. Being originally from Duncan, I am truly an islander at heart. Now, I have the time and opportunity to focus on a long-lasting career utilizing more of my accumulated skills and put down deep roots here on the island.Life is an expansive journey, so why not keep it engaging? I eagerly anticipate more adventures, both in education and travel, and am excited to see where this path leads.

Europe

Embracing the expat life with 'That's Hamori,' our travel blog chronicles the journey of relocating from Canada with our two little ones in tow. Europe beckoned, as we sought the perfect spot for both business and giving our kids a taste of European living. From Budapest along the Danube, through Austria, Germany, Italy, and the picturesque countryside, to the beaches of southern France and Spain, we knew we'd found our home near the French/Spanish border. Months in a camper van led us to a charming village along the Canal du Midi. We renovated a villa, launched language and gastronomic ventures, and our kids flourished in public school, mastering French and embracing their new life. For five rich years, we reveled in Mediterranean vistas, rolling vineyards, and the Canal du Midi's tranquility. We delved into local cuisine, immersed ourselves in French culture and language, and cherished every moment.Yet, the magnetic pull of Budapest persisted, prompting another family move - and our language homestay program came along for the ride! Budapest, a vibrant metropolis, offered a sharp contrast to our peaceful French countryside. We seized each moment, cherishing the value of 'time currency' and striking a balance between work and life while guiding our children into their teenage years. Now, after a decade abroad, we find ourselves back in Canada, completing a full circle. The ocean and mountains called us home, and we've nestled in the picturesque Harbour city of Nanaimo. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it's time to relish the familiar comforts of home. We're living our best life. What's stopping you from pursuing your own happiness today?
