I am a Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany. I also hold an affiliation as lecturer at the department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow where I worked from 2008 on. My expertise lies in the intersection between novel technologies, design and social sciences, focusing on the user experience and social interactions with and around novel interface style systems. My research encompasses issues of UbiComp, HCI, Interaction Design and CSCW. I have extensive experience in the evaluation of interactive museum installations, am an expert on tangible interfaces, and 'tangible and embodied interaction', and am also active in interactive tabletop research (multitouch interfaces). My students push me to extend my research foci even further, investigating spatial aspects in the use and design of urban media facades, the experience of non-visual data representations, and the design of multimodal museum installations. I've been roaming around quite a bit over the years. From february 1997 I was a research assistant in the interdisciplinary research institute artec at the University of Bremen and had a PhD scholarship of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung 2000 to 2003. Feb. 2003-Oc. 2004 I was acting assistant professor (Universitäts-Assistentin) at the Technical Unversity Vienna (TU Wien) in Austria.
