Peru

I travelled to South America to volunteer, travel and learn Spanish. I volunteered as a translator in the Amazonas and helped a small family run tourist agency near Machu Picchu with their Social Media Channels. Skills acquired: Spanish language, independent thinking, social skills, cultural understanding, self-understanding, inspiration. I also learned, that in the jungle, you (and your things) will get wet. Accept and embrace it. Mind blowing was also to learn that Quechua, the native Peruvian language spoken in the Andes region was used in Star Wars as the language for baddies like Jabba the Hutt.

As an HR-Specialist for a global company I supported managers in Finland and UK with HR processes related to all employment life cycle issues as well as administered HR tasks, including master data maintenance and reporting (Excel). I processed changes related to employment life-cycle and organizational data in SAP HR, prepared employment forms and documentation, supported managers and employees with questions related to HR processes, cooperated with payroll and HR auditing. I administered recruitment processes, including job advertisement drafting and publication, candidate summaries and pre-screening, interview arrangements, communication with candidates, etc.Summary of skills acquired: teamwork, time management, prioritization, customer service and development-oriented mindset, communication including language skills working in three languages, cooperation, working under high pressure, workload planning, business understanding, project management, self-leadership, CRM and SAP, reporting skills.

I revised the master data flow from the service center in Krakow to the administration in UPM's sites in South East Asia. I mapped the current processes and needs of the countries in question and standardized them according to established global processes, taking local HR legislation into account. I developed procedures to improve the service delivery and provided training to managers about the new systems and tool that were taken into use.
