Eva Muir, Phd Email and Phone Number
I am a biologist, researcher, and educator specialising in the ecology and behaviour of bear species. My experience in animal behaviour, conservation biology and applied wildlife ecology informs my research and teaching practice, bringing a unique perspective to my projects and classrooms. Currently, I am lecturing at Bishop Burton College and serving as the Programme Leader for students studying BSc Animal Behaviour and Wildlife Conservation. I am also leading a research project studying polar bear behaviour at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Previously, I have studied brown bear behavioural response to wildlife-viewing tourism in Russia, I have conducted field research on the elusive spectacled bear in Peru, and I have studied stereotypic behaviour in Asiatic black bears rescued from bear bile farms in China. I have also worked with the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre and the North American Bear Center, studying bear behaviour and leading educational programmes with the goal of reducing conflict between bears and humans.
