At HPRSA, I'm a writer and event planner for the public relations committee. Is there a social coming up? I'm planning it with the 4-person team. Is there a weekly newsletter going out to let people know of upcoming Hispanic professional opportunities? I'm helping to write it. Being in HPRSA has really taught me the value of surrounding myself with fellow inspiring Latino professionals. Not only to be able to spread chisme over a cafe con leche, but to help each other navigate the ever-changing landscape that a career in PR brings.

At Alpha PR, I oversee a team of five people, and we work on behalf of a Gainesville-based nonprofit known as MusicGNV. In this role, I have learned so much about the value of communication when leading a team and building a campaign for a client. Whether we are working together to design a website, curate social media platforms, or pitch local businesses, the ability to create a space where everyone feels free to contribute has proven to be essential! As the only student-led PR agency on UF's campus, Alpha PR has taught me the value of surrounding yourself with individuals who are as ambitious as they are friendly and who are always willing to reach down the ladder to pull someone else up with them.

At CPAmerica, I worked closely with Marketing Manager Amy Azoulay on editing graphics for LinkedIn and Facebook, planning out and writing captions for multiple social channels, and helping to write weekly e-newsletters! Working with Amy was honestly such a delight, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to work with CPAmerica for the spring semester. This role really granted me the opportunity to sharpen up my writing skills and combine a passion for social media with a field I ended up learning a lot about: accounting! As all communications professionals know, your brand is everything, and as I learned in this role, that even goes for the number-filled field!

At KE Social, I worked directly with founders Katheleen Socorro and Ezequiel Rabelo to convert client ideas into tangible social media campaigns. During my time as social media manager, I ran the Instagram and Facebook accounts of four clients in industries that ranged from healthcare to sports. Acting as the creative mind behind planned posts that integrated modern trends into more established corporations This role challenged the notions I had about social media managers and allowed me to become so much more adaptable as a professional in the communications field, a skill that I exclusively attribute to the many hats a role in startups allows you to wear!

Part of the reason why I chose to major in PR is because I felt there were just so many avenues to pursue with the degree, and A New Start allowed me to explore what working with a non-profit would be like post-grad! While working closely under the direction of Executive Director Andrew Hoo, I designed social media graphics as well as captions and came up with an advertising schedule that increased donor engagement by 60% while managing their social media platforms. I've always had such an interest in social media, and this role really acted as my introduction to the behind-the-scenes contemplation of every post!

It's all about the U! At the University of Miami, I worked under the guidance of Cristina Elgarresta, Associate Vice President of HR-Total Rewards, to update all of their pre-Covid systems and assist other Human Resources staff with the proper editing and filing of previous documentation. I'm forever grateful to the HR Rewards staff at UM for helping me navigate the office workspace as a student and learn a little more about what it means to function in a role where you really focus on the precision of language on a daily basis!

Everybody starts somewhere! At Kumon, I developed a lot of experience dealing with life's most demanding bosses: children. All jokes aside, I really loved this role, and while working as a tutor of math and language arts under Rebecca Meire, I learned the importance of patience in all of your work and that organizational skills really do go the extra mile, especially when it comes to planning the weekly homework of an unenthusiastic 5-year-old who would really rather the homework packet didn't make it home with them.
