Responsible for planning age-appropriate curriculum to meet our learning goals and supervise these activitiesin the classroom. This program was a full-day program for many of our 3-4 year old students. As our students oftenspent the majority of their time in our classroom, we also became responsible for teaching children how to interactwith each other and work through frustrations and disagreements in an age-appropriate manner.

This is a prevention research internship in which I participated through Virginia Commonwealth University. As aresearch assistant my main responsibilities were to help transcribe and check tapes of interviews with participants,as well as enter and check data from the surveys gathered during the course of this research project.

Emergency shelter & transitional housing. I volunteered at the Espigh Family Shelter for women and children. I was responsible for caring for the children who lived there while their mothers had therapy and other sessions that would be most efficient without their children present. We created games and activities to do with the children, as well as helped them complete homework and interact in socially acceptable ways.

Canoe tripping guide in Northern Ontario. I planned the daily itinerary for a variety of length canoe trips for 10-12 yearold girls, including planning and facilitating daily meals. After campers completed an initial basic training period, theother staff and I would train our campers how to safely canoe, set up camp, cook, and gather and saw wood. Ourgoal was to help facilitate an acceptable level of efficacy in wilderness survival in each of our wards.
