About Eva Valkovicova

I am a regulatory scientist. It's a different species of a 'scientist' as we need to make everyone equally happy (or unhappy). I follow the assessment and approval process of biocidal active substances under the BPR Regulation. Before I was checking the compliance of dossiers of chemical substances according to REACH Regulation, where I advised on information requirements needed for registration under REACH.In my free time I am aspiring social media marketer for @MasteringFinlandPodcast.During my career I contributed to the establishment of a voluntary Network of MSCA organisations responsible for providing advice on REACH, CLP and Biocides Regulations (HelpNet). The creation of this network brought and is still bringing clarity to the implementation of REACH, CLP and Biocides Regulations. During my work in the hazard assessment unit of the European Chemical Agency I was assessing the compliance of scientific dossiers of chemical substances compared to the requirements of the REACH Regulation. I assessed the hazards and risks of the chemical substances and evaluated whether the risk assessment provided by chemical industry is correct. I evaluated the reliability and relevance of the submitted tests on environmental fate and behaviour and of eco-toxicological tests. I drafted decisions and opinions resulting from the evaluation of compliance of the scientific dossier of chemicals. I also contributed to drafting of scientific strategy documents regarding environmental topics and regulatory strategies.I co-drafted a report of ECHA’s Integrated Regulatory Strategy. This strategy aims to ensure that REACH and CLP processes are coherently implemented and it also supports authorities to identify and address substances of concern as quickly as possible. This report is showing the progress on evaluation of chemical substances done so far and how the aims of the regulations are being fulfilled, how the work of ECHA and industry brings Europe closer to achieve a deep knowledge about chemicals used in Europe.
