I was National Co-Leader of BLG’s Advertising, Marketing and Sponsorship Group, and Editor of BLG's Not-for-Profit and Charity Law in Canada Blog. I also played an advisory role to the firm by providing legal advice on firm initiatives. I worked closely with various legal professionals and departments to implement local and national initiatives.My law practice areas included: advertising, marketing, information technology, consumer protection, copyright, trademarks, corporate and commercial law. I advised on Canada’s anti-spam law, packaging and labelling laws, and consumer protection rules. Agreements I drafted, reviewed and/or negotiated included: agency, sponsorship, technology-related, distribution, social media-related, book publishing, entertainment-related and other commercial agreements. I also drafted/reviewed website terms and conditions; online purchase agreement; intellectual property policies, licences and assignments; anti-spam policies; and social media policies. In addition, I drafted and prosecuted trade-mark applications (as a registered trademark agent in Canada); completed applications for copyright registration; and acted for buyers and sellers in corporate acquisitions and divestitures.I was on secondment at a food company. Also, while handling commercial law matters on secondment at Bell Canada, I received a “Sales Excellence Award” from the enterprise sales team for my performance and teamwork. I was a Contributing Editor of LexisNexis' Canadian Food and Drug Legislation & Commentary (2012 and 2013/2014 Editions).BLG is a national, full-service Canadian law firm.
