'Government expert organisations in-between logics'Government expert organisations have traditionally been established to represent the scientific knowledge of environmental issues in support of evidence-based policy making, but are now questioned for their apparently detached, scientific and objective status. Reflexive science is promoted by scholars in science – policy studies as a way forward to deal with wicked environmental problems, governance dynamics and post-truth politics, but its implementation in government scientific advice is identified as a huge challenge. I therefore argue that experts find themselves in-between logics: they are inclined to adopt reflexive ways of working, but are bounded by the limits imposed by modernist structures, norms and ways of working. In my PhD research I studied how policy assessment practitioners in their day-to-day work dealt with co-existing logics using alignment strategies
