Within this position I mainly fill the void of a nurse being on duty for both Elementary and High School students when the fulltime School Nurse is either unable to be present at school or an extra RN is needed for field trips. I mostly attend field trips and aid in annual vision, hearing, as well as height and weight screenings. Administering epileptic and diabetic medications, along with knowledge of handling crisis with these disorders are among my responsibilities.

I provide rapid assessment and treatment to patients in acute phases of numerous illnesses or traumas. I am expected to 'assess, intervene, and stabilize.' I apply the capability of triaging patients according to their level of urgency and assigning the correct path of action from that point. I carry out orders given by physicians that I work directly side-by-side with. I am expected to maintain a knowledge of an array of physical and mental diagnosis; along with signs and symptoms thereof. In a situation containing life-threatening conditions, I am ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as well as PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified.

I worked alongside a qualified instructor to assist with the understanding of basic nursing skills and procedures, along with mathematical equations for underclassman. I helped reinforce classroom material as well as offered and performed private tutoring sessions.
