Eva Monheim is the author of Shrubs & Hedges: Discover, Grow, and Care for the World's Most Popular Plants. The book was inspired by her years of teaching woody plants at Longwood Gardens and Temple University. It was nominated by The Council on Botanical & Horticultural Libraries for outstanding contributions to the literature of horticulture. Monheim’s articles, designs, and photographs have appeared in national, regional, and local magazines, and newspapers. She even had her own garden column in The Philadelphia Inquirer. Monheim is the director, producer, and co-host of the award-winning The Plant a Trillion Trees Podcast which focuses on the importance of tree care and its connection to helping to mitigate the climate crisis. Currently, Eva is a faculty member at Longwood Gardens, Inc. in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Monheim is co-principal of Verdant Earth Educators, LLC (VEE) a company that writes educational documents and standards, SOPs, landscape management plans, and trains professionals in the green industry. Monheim holds degrees from the Pennsylvania State University in horticulture and art and she has a degree from Arcadia University in English literature. Monheim won the prestigious International Ambassadorial Scholarship through Rotary International which took her to the University of Reading, in England. Her year-long studies in the UK gave her a global appreciation of garden design and environmental sustainability while working on her advanced degree in horticulture. Monheim is an ISA Certified Arborist® through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), a master floral designer, and a photographer. Eva is a member of the American Horticultural Society (AHS), ISA, the International Dendrology Society (IDS), the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), the Hardy Plant Society/Mid-Atlantic Group (HPS/MAG), Women in Horticulture, and Garden Communicators International (GardenComm). Monheim was an assistant professor of instruction at Temple University in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture for over twelve years where she taught 13 different subjects for undergraduate and graduate programs. Monheim has owned several businesses including a floral shop and landscaping company. Her breadth of knowledge in the industry is vast which comes through in her work. As an award-winning educator, Monheim has empowered hundreds of students who are now leaders in the commercial and public sectors of the green industry. Monheim is also a Reiki Master Teacher.
