Evan Ari Kelman is a bi-coastal filmmaker and creative entrepreneur with a passion for creating emotionally resonant and visually powerful experiences. He has a proven track record of directing award-winning films, commercials, and digital content, and is skilled in leading production teams, collaborating with top talent, and developing compelling narratives that resonate with audiences.A graduate of New York University, Kelman’s thesis narrative, BANDITO, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015, where it won the Wasserman Award for Best Directing. Following this, he returned to Tribeca with ONE GOOD PITCH in 2016, which he co-wrote and produced. That same year, he produced HOMING IN, which was showcased at the British Film Institute.Kelman’s first feature script, WITH THESE EYES, earned a 2016 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Writing Award. His short film, WHERE THERE'S SMOKE, world premiered at Tribeca in 2017, marking his third consecutive appearance as a writer/producer and second as a director. The film went on to win the Grand Jury Award for Best Short Film (Live Action) at the Edmonton International Film Festival, qualifying for the 2019 Academy Awards. His latest feature, BARRON’S COVE, was a semi-finalist for the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowships for Screenwriting and appeared on the 2021 Black List. The film features a renowned cast including Garrett Hedlund, Brittany Snow, Stephen Lang, and Hamish Linklater, and is produced by Mandalay Pictures. It premiered at the 32nd Hamptons International Film Festival.As a freelancer, Kelman has directed content for top brands including Discover, Bonobos, Foot Locker, Converse, Uber, Chevrolet, and Gillette. His award-winning commercial, The Push for Foot Locker, aired alongside the New York City Marathon, and his campaign for Biotene won a 2020 Gold Telly Award. In 2022, Kelman was honored as part of the 20th Annual SHOOT New Director’s Showcase.In 2023, Kelman co-founded ScriptGen, a cutting-edge AI platform that streamlines the film and TV production process, currently serving major clients across the entertainment industry. ScriptGen has rapidly gained traction, onboarding the Buchwald agency as an enterprise client and being used by agents at WME, Gersh, CAA, and UTA, along with producers at Paramount, Amblin, and other leading studios. The platform’s tools are also being embraced by Sundance directors and established TV writers, assisting with everything from script development to final production planning.
