Along with managing the operations of Derceto’s engineering and software teams, as COO I have expanded responsibilities in supporting business development activities, managing human resources across the Derceto group, building corporate relationships with business enablers, maintaining quality assurance standards along with health and safety policy and coordination.

Responsible for the delivery of Derceto’s engineering projects (studies, detailed designs, software implementations), provision of Support and maintenance services to Derceto’s international client base, along with oversight and governance of ongoing product development. This role involved managing 20 permanent engineering staff and managing Derceto’s relationships with university bodies and business enablers.

This leadership role was responsible for managing the provision of maintenance and support services to Derceto’s international customers throughout New Zealand, Australia and USA. During this time Derceto transitioned to using local technical support staff to provide first level support to our customers who link with the Auckland based techincal support team. In this role I was responsible for developing Derceto’s first support strategies and formalising Derceto’s support processes.

As an optimisation engineer at Derceto, I was responsible for conducting feasibility studies, software detailed designs and direct development of Derceto’s Aquadapt software. The highlight of this role was personally undertaking and leading the successful analysis, design and implementation of Aquadapt at Water District No.1 of Johnson County (WaterOne), Kansas City, USA. This software IT change project enabled the client to reduce the energy costs of delivering potable water across the district by more than $800,000 per annum, some 20% of their $5 million dollar energy spend.
