Researcher at the Exeter EPSRC Hub for Quantitative Modelling in Healthcare. Looking at the use of statistical methods for uncertainty quantification for improved decision making in healthcare based on numerical models.Current work involves building bayesian models for patient trajectory predictions, Gaussian process emulation for healthcare digital twins, and providing more general statistical advice.

I suspended my PhD for 6 months to take on a position building a statistical emulator for the UK's community land surface model, JULES. We included additional information in this emulator from external driving data about the climate and environment. Afterwards, we tested the capabilities of this statistical model by performing a preliminary sensitivity analysis and history matching calibration.This project was quite short, and so results had to be produced in a timely manner, and it also involved communicating and working with other disciplines. Building the emulator itself involved dealing with very models and very large datasets, and the data had both a spatial and a temporal component.

Over my summer I performed some data analysis for a start-up company in Exeter; the company didn’t have anybody with data analysis experience, so most of my work was fairly independent.I self-taught myself some basic proficiency in MySQL and Neo4j, which allowed me to tidy up and export data from various databases into R, from here I used prior knowledge and understanding from my course to conduct some fairly simple analysis of the data that they had, as well as model some causal relationships via GLMs.
